Wednesday, so time for watercolor class. The class format is predictable: First, "The Crit", when the instructor looks at our work of the previous week one by one, gives feedback, and uses what individuals could improve as a teaching moment. I submitted my "negatives shapes" watercolor of some cut flowers. Graciella said she was was "thrilled" whenever a student took what we had done in class and extended it to something of their own. Then she honed in on my hard edges spiking out at the bottom right - and explained what I should have done. Her'e my attempt and some of the others -- all different, all with good points, and all with parts that could be improved.
Then we started to work on a picture that incorporates all the techniques we have learned so far -- first she showed us a finished painting.
Then she started a new one, showing us how it was constructed, step by step. Here's a couple of steps along the way ...

Then there wasn't too much time for us to work. Here's as far as I got before the end of class.
After lunch, grocery shopping time for me, and another visit to Marshall's for Ulla (her third since Saturday!) We weren't out long, then work-time before a pre-dinner swim. The recipe was "Denti's Flying Dragon" (from the GRI cookbook.) Dragon is the Swedish for tarragon; I don't know where the "flying" came from. The result was a delicious chicken with penne. Followed by strawberry shortcake.

Maybe tomorrow will be different ... at least the dinner will be!
I like your trees (what there is so far) and the dinner and dessert, and the "ironic" wine, all look delicious.
