Uluru

So, what's the fascination with this monolith rock, just sticking up out of nowhere that compelled us to travel to the middle of the continent. First sunset, where we sipped champagne and watched the color change every few minutes with the setting sun.

Then this morning, on a visit to the Aboriginal Land of the Anangu, with an interpreter who had been "adopted" by a community and invited to interpret their story for the white man, we walked up to various points of the rock, learned about the Aboriginal belief system, saw sacred places, the classroom for the children, and other spots. It was the most interesting part of the trip so far.
