Just as I was settling down to read about
Socratic wonder, as part of my hermeneutic turn, an email arrived from a colleague in Gothenburg with a link to
Bruce Nussbaum's latest
blog post. For those interested in creative capitalism, and who isn't these days, he recommended, among other readings, Clifford Geertz's
Deep play: Notes on the Balinese cockfight, and Goffman's
Frame Analysis. I'd forgotten about Geertz's wonderful piece (no pun intended) and it was a pleasure to read it again.
Maybe there is hope for me yet, if I pursue this avenue towards deeper understanding of my earlier work. It's worth a try -- so long
wonder! At least for now!
